Equipment Room Power & Cooling Upgrade

Similar to the Westborough, MA MEC buildout, this project was a critical mechanical and electrical upgrade to increase the network capacity in the Wall Township area of New Jersey. This project required several electrical upgrades including UPSs, PDUs, RPPs and underfloor equipment receptacles. This project included both day work and maintenance window work.

Data centers can produce a significant amount of heat, which can be detrimental to electronics and their abilitiy to function at a high level. As a part of this project, we installed four new, 42 ton CRAC units and their associated condensers to provide additional cooling to the network space. These were installed alongside the existing CRAC units and integrated into the existing teamwork mode and BAS system.

The electrical upgrades for this project included two new 600kva UPSs, each accompanied by a rack of 60 DC batteries. Downstream from the new UPSs, we installed six new PDUs to distribute power to new and existing RPPs. This project then required the installation of 14 additional RPP's in the switch room. This project was unique in that it required us to remove temporary electrical feeds to live and operating RPPs in order to refeed them from the new PDUs. This was due to the electrical design and the need to evenly distribute the electrical load after a full electrical buildout. This process was complete during the maintenance window with 0 incident and 0 downtime for the client.

Other requirements of this project were to install three full rows of cold aisle containment as well as a second security cage adjacent to the cage we installed in a previous project.
