NEC 2N, UPS & Generator Installation
XEC worked in this Telecom Network Equipment Center on consecutive projects from June of 2011 thru December of 2014, performing various infrastructure and network upgrades. Projects include: installation of (2) 400KVA Liebert UPS systems in existing Rectifier/UPS rooms, which also received (2) new PDU’s. New backup battery strings were also installed for each UPS. The UPS systems were tied into the existing operational C/D Switchboard to feed AC power. As part of this upgrade additional cooling was provided in each Rectifier/UPS Room by installing (2) 15 ton Liebert CRAC units along with condensate/water piping and ductwork modifications in the existing space. Once all UPS work was completed, XEC began installation of (5) new rows of buss duct being fed from the new PDU’s through new wall mounted disconnects.
As part of the overall upgrades, XEC performed the installation of a new 1250kW Cummins generator along with a new 10,000 gallon AST. The generator was installed inside the facility and connected to the existing paralleling switchboard controlling generators C and D. The existing C side and D side ASCO manual transfer switches were converted to automatic transfer switches for use with temporary rollup generators.
The most recent project completed by XEC at this facility was the 2N project, which included the addition of 3 more 1250kW gensets and a 160 ton AHU installed on the exterior of the facility. XEC continues to support the client with various ongoing projects in this and other facilities located throughout the United States.
